The Medical Reimbursement and Coding associate degree program at Bryant & Stratton College prepares students for entry-level positions in medical billing and coding and other areas of the healthcare field. The process of medical reimbursement and coding is vital to healthcare as medical coders are responsible for transforming billable patient care into medical codes for insurance companies so that healthcare providers are properly paid for their services. In our coding program, students will learn about and gain skills in medical terminology, health information systems, medical records, and more.
As the medical field continues to grow, the need for skilled medical coders will grow as well. Medical coding specialists have the ability to work for private practices, hospitals, clinics, long-term-care facilities, insurance providers, and other businesses within the healthcare industry.
The first step toward this detail-oriented profession is this 60-credit associate degree program that is designed to meet the standards set by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Upon graduation, students will be capable of earning certification through one of these two bodies.
Courses in the Medical Reimbursement & Coding degree are also offered at the Albany, Buffalo, Henrietta and Greece campuses. To learn more, please contact an admissions representative.
